Features of driving in cross-country conditions

Car Kia Sportage is intended for operation in a wide spectrum of road conditions, including on impassability. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to use it for movement through deep water barriers, on excessively dirty and viscous roads, and also on excessive steep slopes and descents. At movement on hilly district try not to move in parallel a slope. Remember that the car can turn over at sudden change of a corner of a slope or its covering.

Movement on impassability should be carried out in an all-wheel drive mode (see Has undressed Use of a distributing box), try not to damage the car about stones, roots of trees and other acting obstacles. As it is possible keep a steering wheel more strong and do not forget to be fastened by a seat belt.

Crossing of water barriers should be made on speed no more than 8 km/h, in a mode 4L a distributing box. Remember that moisture hit on elements of system of ignition is interfaced to risk spontaneous останова the engine. Try not to suppose situations when water rises above a bottom edge of wheel naves.

At movement on snow or ice use special tyres, or chains противоскольжения (if it is not forbidden by the local legislation). On all wheels establish radial tyres of an identical standard size. Remember that tyres for movement on snow do not give additional coupling with normal road.

Metal chains противоскольжения should correspond to class S on SAE. At installation of chains watch their durability обтягивания, trying to adhere to instructions of their manufacturers strictly. If during chain movement adjoin to body or suspension bracket elements, try to tighten once again chains if it does not help, try to change a high-speed mode in appropriate way. Remember that speed limit of movement of the car equipped with chains противоскольжения should not exceed 50 km/h, or the value established by manufacturer of chains (that is less).

At frequent movement on impassability intervals of carrying out of routine maintenance should be reduced (Current leaving and service) see the Head.

By transportation cargoes on impassability place heavier subjects as it is possible more close to a forward part of the car. Watch reliability of fixing of luggage. Placing luggage on the top luggage carrier, do not exceed a limiting safe load on a roof (45 kg), remember that laying of heavy subjects on a roof results to displacement of the centre of gravity of the car and raises its risk переворачивания during movement on rough country.

At long movement in an all-wheel drive mode there is a habit to make turns on higher speeds, than at driving in normal conditions, - do not forget about necessity of change of a manner of driving after congress from impassability.
